Bringing learning to life in the grade 3 classroom, the students had hands-on experience in learning all about simple machines and the pulley system. They used various resources found in the classroom to set up a fixed pulley, a moveable pulley and a combined pulley. They brainstormed ideas and came up with the pencil being the sturdiest object they could use as a beam and used a pile of their workbooks to weigh it down in place. They also investigated which pulley has the most mechanical advantage.
